Dear Prime Minister,

Sorry for interrupting you, but I really wanted to tell you about our Garden to Table sessions that we do at Owairaka District School. I want you to know what it really means to us and hopefully you can share this on to other schools. Maybe the Government can help out because it costs a lot of money.

It is very interesting and we learn how to cook different types of food like tacos, banana skin muffins (yes, that's right we used the skins of the banana’s), burritos, salads and pizza, all types of things.

We learn lots of skills that help us in the kitchen so when we are at home we can help out more. Some of us even cook dinner for our families now which is actually really, really awesome. It also makes us try new types of food. There's was this one time that there was a green smoothie that looked like snot and everybody else thought that it would be really disgusting and gross but the girls really liked it. It was made out of spinach and feijoa and healthy green stuff like that.

We also have bees and chickens and we got our first egg in a long time last week. We use our eggs and own honey in our cooking. By the way, all of that stuff that we eat,  it's all vegetarian, so you can share with anybody that you want. It doesn't include as much dairy so I think it's a really for all types of diets

In the garden we learnt how to plant crops, harvest them and use all types of tools like pitchforks, shovels and spades. We use compost and all have learnt about how a worm farm works.

So I hope you're getting the message that Garden to Table is amazing and if you do please share it with your cabinet and find a way to let more school enjoy this experience.

Yours sincerely,

Adam Room 8,
